So, I'm blogging about my cancer diagnosis and the craziness that has become my life as a way to keep all my friends and family in the loop, without having to tell the story 75 different times.
Other than my grandmother, who did have breast cancer twice and eventually died from the disease, I don't really have any experience with anyone close to me going through this process. My grandmother was well into her 70's at the time, and did not live near me, so I don't really have a day-to-day insight into what goes on. Writing these posts is also a way for me to cope and probably will keep me from going crazy on some days. And maybe someone will find this on just the right day and it will help them.
The big question...what happened? How did this come about? Here's the story, from the beginning:
Mid-July, 2012: I found 2 lumps in my left breast one morning while in the shower. Now, before you think I'm an over-achiever when it comes to self-exams, I'm NOT! I rarely (never) do them, and even though I'm 41, I've never had a mammogram. Trust me, these lumps were pretty obviously, and clearly sprouted overnight.
Hmmm, what does this mean? Is it possible they're just random cysts? Sure, that sounds good. That's the story I'm going with. No need to tell anyone.
